I think he’s finished. I’ll have to think about it.
Lucy Dreams of Beaches
6th in the Gloria’s Grandkids series
Gloria got a beautiful photo of Lucy by telling Lucy to close her eyes and think of their last trip to the beach. Then she told her to open her eyes, and Gloria snapped the pic. I am really enjoying painting this series. Ethan in his football gear is the last one, but I will take a break to go to Italy for a few weeks, and also to paint a few things to enter into a juried show in December. I am determined to get into a juried show!
Addy in Pink – done
I hope her parents recognize her – I seem to have inadvertendlly aged her!
Jack & Nicky
This is a surprise for my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Jack & Nicky are their grandchildren. I loved their bright, shiny faces against the dark blue school sweatshirts and fall foliage.
Almost Done – Tyler
3rd in the series, “Gloria’s Grandkids”. Tyler has been a challenge. I wiped his nose out 3 times until I was satisfied with it. The light in the photo is beautiful, but capturing it and softening the edges is a difficult. I have really enjoyed the challenge. The more I paint, the more I learn, and the more I love the process.

Princess Ava day 2
So when I take a picture of the work, I can actually see where it needs to be fixed. Her mouth on the right isn’t right. I still have a lot of tweaking to do, but I like the direction it’s going. I am happy I got a chance to paint today. Wish I had daylight to paint other days, but it also takes a lot of energy, of which there isn’t usually any by the time I get done at work.

Princess Ave day 2
Princess Ava
Here is the first crack at the second in my Gloria’s Grandkids series. Gloria has taken some terrific pictures of her grandkids for me to work from. The first step is to underpaint with burnt sienna. This gives the painting depth. I just try to get the general idea and placement of features. Finetuning comes in the later layers of paint.
